Tel: (718) 270-1981 | Fax: (718) 270-3843 e-mail: jburack@downstate.edu About: Dr. Burack was born in New York and received an undergraduate degree in psychology from the College of Art and Sciences, Cornell University. He obtained a Medical Degree and completed a general surgery training program at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Yeshiva University in the Bronx. Dr. Burack came to SUNY Downstate in 1987 to complete his subspecialty training in Cardiothoracic Surgery and has remained on the SUNY faculty till the present time and is currently a Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery. In addition, Dr. Burack is also the director of the Thoracic Surgical service at the Kings County Hospital Center, and the associate director of the Cardiothoracic Residency training program Dr. Burack has published some 30 peer reviewed journal articles and numerous textbook chapters in the field of cardiothoracic surgery and his research topics include; thoracic trauma, public reporting of surgical results and the management of vascular graft infections. In the operating room, Dr. Burack clinical interests are in both adult cardiac and thoracic surgery with a special interest in minimally invasive thoracic surgery and thoracic oncology.
