The focus of interest of our staff ranges from basic sciences to clinical research. Categorical general surgery residents have the option to spend two years to perform independent laboratory research.
In addition, Dr. Zenilman - our Chairman, sponsors a monthly meeting known as the Pancreas Club with other investigators from interested departments. Research groups conducting pancreatic related research meet and discuss ongoing projects, in addition to discussing papers from the literature, which pertain to this complex organ.
Besides clinical responsibilities, our residents actively participate in a journal club. Here we examine various published clinical and basic science papers and have rich discussions that enhance our ability to critically evaluate data from peer-reviewed journals.
