About:

Dr. John is a graduate of Princeton University and the Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He was an outstanding resident of SUNY Downstate Surgical Residency Program, who went on to complete the NYU-SUNY Downstate ASTS-accredited fellowship in Kidney and Liver Transplant Surgery in 1997.

Dr. John joined the full-time faculty at NYU Medical Center in 1997 and continued to receive positions of increasing responsibility, culminating in his appointment as Director of Kidney and Pancreas Transplantation in 2006.

Dr. John has a broad clinical experience in kidney transplants, laparoscopic donor nephrectomies, and complex hepatobiliary procedures.

In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. John regularly participates in resident and medical student surgical education.

Dr. John has been active in the New York Organ Donor Network since 1998, serving on multiple committees and a term on the NYODN Board of Directors. He also currently serves on the UNOS Kidney Transplant Committee.
